The Press 53 Open Awards Anthology?

Finalists in each category will be listed by name.

Writers who have two or more finalist entries in one or more categories will receive special recognition.

In Poetry and Flash Fiction we will award a Second Place and one Honorable Mention, which includes publication.

We will also award one Honorable Mention in Short-Short Story, Short Story, Genre Fiction, Creative Nonfiction and Young Writers, which includes publication.

Flash Fiction:
Submit 1 story up to 750 words
Deadline: October 31, 2008

Short-Short Story:
Submit 1 story up to 1500 words
Deadline: October 31, 2008

Poetry:
Submit 3 of your best poems
(Poems will be judged as a collective work)

Novella:
Submit 1 novella up to 20,000 words
Deadline: December 31, 2008

Creative Nonfiction:
Submit 1 personal essay, stand-alone memoir, or
other CNF up to 5000 words

Short Fiction:
Submit 1 story up to 5000 words
Deadline: January 31, 2009
Judge: TBA

Genre Fiction:
Submit 1 story (any genre--sci/fi, horror, mystery,
thriller, romance, etc) up to 3000 words
Deadline: February 28, 2009
Judge: Laura Benedict

Writers ages 13-17 may submit 1 story up to
5000 words or 3 poems by March 31, 2009
Judge: TBA
